Stealing Pokeman cards a prerequisite to credit card fraud?

Miss Singapore pleads for forgiveness

MISS World Singapore 2009 Ris Low, whose credit card fraud conviction has been exposed, is asking everyone to forgive her, reported China Press.

There were Singaporeans who wanted her to be stripped of her title while others requested her not to represent Singapore in the finals of the Miss World pageant to be held in South Africa in December.

Low pleaded to be given a second chance and asked for forgiveness from Singaporeans.

She had declined a phone interview but later sent an SMS to the reporter to apologise to Singaporeans.

Low was emotional during an interview after the fraud was exposed last Friday.

Two months before the Miss World Singapore pageant, Low was sentenced to 24 months’ probation for using illegally obtained credit cards to purchase jewellery and a handphone and dining at posh restaurants, running a bill close to S$8,000 (RM19,840).

The probation is not considered a conviction, the daily reported.

Low also admitted that she started stealing Pokeman cards when she was young and credit cards when she grew up.

In the interview, Low also said that the act of stealing gave her a sense of satisfaction.

When her mum’s suspicion grew, she confessed that she had stolen the Pokemon cards.

Her mum then urged her to leave the shop whenever she was tempted to steal again.
