Animes that have finished airing, currently on air, or will be aired soon.
WINTER 2008 - DEC 2008 ~ FEB 2009
Shikabane Hime Kuro
- Haven’t seen the first season yet, but the premise of a MAC-11 wielding schoolgirl killing zombies seems like my kind of fetish. Second season has finished airing on March 26 2009.
Akikan!
- 4chan recommended Epic QUALITY anime. Anons have repeatedly stressed Akikan! is actually alright (even Baka Raptor thinks so), provided that you wear the right goggles. Considering that I have watched ‘perceptually negative’ animes like Hyakko and ended up enjoying it somewhat, perhaps I should give this a go. Series has finished airing on March 29 2009.
Minami-ke Okaeri
- ThirdSecond season to Minami-ke OkawariMinami-ke, Okaeri brought much needed improvement for the series, fixing what went wrong with the second season and reviving the humor of the first is still QUALITY. Having encountered much QUALITY in animes since late 2008, it’s safe to say that I no longer object the use of Burmese child labour, but it still didn’t save the anime from failing to emulate and succeed the Godlike first season. ThirdSecond season has finished airing on March 29 2009.
Maria Holic
-IT’S THIS YEAR’S SAYONARA ZETSUBOU SENSEI. I’m up to episode ten. Series has finished airing on March 23 2009, but fansubbers = stupid.
Viper’s Creed
- Some have compared this to an anime version of Future Cop LAPD, but others (and I believe many) feel the anime is quite bland and shallow for those on more healthy diet of better, more developed mecha anime. Series is ongoing.
Asu no Yoichi
- Some dude + lotsa chicks = NOT REALLY WANT. Seen the first ep, and off it went to the Recycle Bin. Generic animu is generic.
Chrome Shelled Regios
- Some dude + lotsa chicks again (moar liek Harem Shelled Regios Amirite?), but anime seems to be pretty popular. Threads for this anime pops up often (9.5/10 on 4chan are slut threads), and that might motivate me to jump onto the bandwagon just to see what the fuss is all about. Series is currently ongoing.
Rideback
- One of the few good animes of this season. Sure, the story’s background is a bit shallow (best summarized as biker Nazis installing a New World Order), but all the doubts I have against the anime is immediately sidelined upon discovering the protagonist Rin Ogata having delicious messy hair, and interesting characterization (there’s something about her that I like). I’m up to episode six. Series is currently ongoing.
Hetalia Axis Powers
- LOLKOREA. Oh yeah, it’s WWII for the fujoshi crowd.
SPRING 2009 - MAC 2009 ~ MAY 2009
K-ON!
- KyoAni, please try harder. You’re not convincing me well enough that this isn’t Lucky Star 3.0 with a new wallpaper and a different coat of paint. Wait, is this Kannagi 2.0 then? Or Haruhi Season 2?
Shangri-La
- Sci-fi anime starring a loli (at least, in appearance) with Jesus boomerang that could obliterate an armoured vehicle. Character design by Range Murata. Looks and sounds interesting, but other than that, it isn’t anything so revolutionary, but I might still pick it up. Last Exile (also by Gonzo with Murata’s involvement) bored me to death after a few eps, so hopefully, Shangri-La is interesting enough to keep my attention span going.
Senjou no Valkyria - Gallian Chronicles
- Based on the best-selling PS3 Strategy RPG. The anime adaptation follows the story of the original game. Some of the people in my blogroll had played the game, and it does look spectacular, graphic-wise and gameplay-wise. Like all videogame to anime adaptation, it’s best to remain sceptical, as such adaptations tend to not live up to its more successful videogame counterpart.
Hayate no Gotoku 2 + OVA
- I dropped the first season after 24 episodes, and the manga doesn’t seem to be going anywhere either. HnG fell into Lucky Star’s ‘pretty cool animu‘ fallacy by attempting to convince the audience it’s funny through constant bombardment of otaku references, which I say is quite effective early on (the Metal Gear Solid ref is awesome), but eventually becoming stale and overused as the episodes progressed. Occasionally, yes, there are some ‘original’ comedy between the characters (in-jokes and whatnot), but it’s insufficient to give this series a full U-turn from Snorefest Avenue. I see no reason that a second season is necessary in the first place, nor will it fix anything that HnG enjoys breaking, and then claiming it’s something new and hilarious.
Eden of the East
- Hmm, oddly interesting. A woman saved by an amnesiac dude who had only a gun and a handphone stored with millions of Rapedollars. It’s got some Bourne Identity vibe in it. Will surely pick this up, since it’s Production IG.
Saki
- Much like how Strike Witches is WWII for pedos, Saki is Akagi for pedos. It’s by Gonzo, not surprisingly. Pick this up (Y/N)?
Dragoball Kai
- IT’S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAND! Marked for deletion (old).
Fullmetal Alchemist (remake)
- The mango isn’t done yet, and they’re already planning a remake? Let’s hope the mangaka doesn’t end up playing Idolmaster.
Robo Crosser
- Sounds like Rideback Lite for kids. Pass.
Queen’s Blade: Rurou no Senshi
- No commento.
Spice & Wolf II: Amber Melancholy OVA
- More of stupid sexy Horo. Never thought I’d fell in love with a Sim-Economy animu, but trust me, it’s interesting, and refreshing to watch. If you haven’t seen the first season, you should.
Fight Ippatsu! Juuden-chan
- Shitty animus like this made me wish Japan had enforced a tough law that forbids the production of Hentai-bordering cocktease anime, which carries a mandatory life sentence, death penalty, or both if found guilty. With the anime preview proudly displaying body-hugging tightsuits and questionable tentacles, this is obviously not an anime that attempts to compel the audience with philosophical mindfuck or anything an Internet Expert would ponder and discuss intelligently, but close-to-fuck, pointless situations that only serves to inflame my murderous intent of going Cho Seung-Hui on Studio Hibari. If you need to make a pointless anime with explicit contents, just fucking turn it into Hentai already!

FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCC-
- SPOILERS: IT WILL NEVER END. Not even the presence of SHAFT could convince me to pick up this anime.

NEWFMAOMGWTFBBQ! DO WANT!
A friend of mine told me something about a Haruhi Season 2. I hope to whoever’s out there that there is actually a Season 2, and that it isn’t actually this K-ON thing.
I’ve never actually seen Lucky Star; should I?

ATG: KyoAni enjoys Rickrolling their fans. For a very good reason, my instinct tells me Haruhi Season 2 would end up as nothing more but a fanservice carnival (as with most S2). Hopefully I’m wrong.
if you happen to know a friend who has a copy of Lucky Star and you’re curious, I wouldn’t stop you. My only motivation of watching Lucky Star till’ finish is
side characters > main characters
…in particular, Misao.

Minami Iwasaki > all.
oh btw, what do you think about Cat Shit One?

Sounds like something I wrote in my blog back in February. And also the main reason why people dig this show. Heck, it’s arguable that said reason is even more enjoyable than the action part of the story and the Engrish scenes as well.

Here come the new and out with the old. The winter season sure is a nice installment for us all. I missing my Rideback, Asu no Yoichi, Akikan and Toradora T_T right now.
I just watch Queen’s blade and it was totally awesome! You must watch it.

Hahahahaha! Sadly so far, Rideback is the only interesting anime so far from 2009 lineup.

K-on and Valkyria Chronicles are on the top of my list along with Queen’s Blade.
BTW… you forgot one more anime, SHIN MAZINGER!

Maskawaih: Interesting, I guess.
Honoo: There’s Engrish? Kay, I might give it a spin.
Linkinstreet: DO NOT WANT.
Tommy: So there’s that thing with rope bondage and a bunny girl firing lazors from her teetees. Hmm…
Stormy: Yup. Season 2 fukken’ where?
Firetribe: Shin Mazinger? I like mechas but ain’t my cup of tea. Was thinking of getting some old stuff like Votoms.

It’s so horrible it’s good. Not worthy of LULZ itself but is worth made fun of that you can get some LULZ.
